Independent Test Measures Snell PR4 Longest at High Swing Speed

New Bedford, MA — August 10, 2026

In MyGolfSpy's 2026 Golf Ball Test — an independent evaluation of 48 golf ball models conducted with robot-swung drivers, irons, and wedges — the Snell PR4 measured longest off the driver at the test's highest swing speed condition (116 mph). It was one of seven balls that finished in a statistical tie for total distance, alongside the Maxfli Tour X, TaylorMade Tour Response, Titleist Pro V1x, Wilson Staff Model X, Callaway Chrome Tour Triple Diamond, and PXG Xtreme Tour X.

Distance, Without Giving Up Spin or Flight

What stands out in the data isn't just the distance number. The PR4 measured a driver spin rate of 2,281 rpm at high swing speed — below the field median — while still peaking above 91 feet, more than five feet above the test average. In MyGolfSpy's own words, low spin off the driver is often "the price" of distance; the PR4's numbers suggest otherwise, holding a full, high trajectory while producing some of the least spin in its group.

A Value Outlier in the Field

MyGolfSpy's broader 2026 findings noted that, at high swing speed, price and distance tend to track together — the more expensive balls in the field were, on the whole, the longer ones. The PR4 is the exception. At $34.99 per dozen, it measured statistically even with balls that include the $57.99 Titleist® Pro V1x, without the pricing that typically accompanies that level of performance.

"We're not trying to build the flashiest ball on the shelf. We're trying to build one a golfer can trust, swing after swing, without paying for a logo. Seeing that show up in someone else's independent numbers — not ours — is the kind of proof that means something."

About the Test

MyGolfSpy's 2026 ball test took place over more than 80 hours across three locations in the Scottsdale, Arizona area, using robot-swung drivers and irons paired with Trackman and GCQuad launch monitors. A calibration ball established a baseline for each test group, and results are reported as the percentage difference from that baseline rather than raw numbers — a method intended to make comparisons meaningful across the full 48-ball field. Full methodology and the complete dataset are available on MyGolfSpy's site.

About the PR4

The PR4 is a four-piece urethane golf ball built for moderate to higher swing speeds, part of Snell Golf's Performance Refined lineup alongside the PR3. It features a TPU-X Armor Cover, an expanded high-energy mantle, and a faster core, and is priced at $34.99 per dozen with volume pricing available.
